Plum Banquet explores the fragmentation of historical memory and the quiet instability of the frame itself - reconstructing fragments of Renaissance interiors, classical sculpture, and still-life symbolism into a suspended space where time, structure, and meaning begin softly dissolving into one another.

Developed through an ongoing investigation into the frame, the work questions the idea of containment within painting; not viewing the frame as something that simply surrounds an image, but as a force capable of stretching, consuming, distorting, and emotionally reshaping what exists inside it. Throughout the composition, objects traditionally associated with permanence and cultural prestige - busts, vessels, banquet forms, arches, and architectural structures - are fragmented, simplified, and partially stripped of their original identities. Some elements remain highly rendered and recognisable, whilst others dissolve into geometric suggestion, flattened colour, and drifting abstraction.

The work exists within the unstable tension between realism and collapse. Perspective shifts unexpectedly, scale loses consistency, and spatial relationships begin to detach from physical logic entirely. Rather than constructing a believable environment, the painting behaves more like memory itself - fragmented, selective, emotionally altered, and constantly reconstructed over time. Objects no longer function solely as symbols of history or status, but instead linger like remnants of something partially remembered; traces of civilisation suspended somewhere between preservation and disappearance.

Muted plum tones, faded structures, fractured vertical forms, and softened atmospheric layering create the feeling of entering a banquet long after its conclusion - where echoes of ritual, conversation, beauty, and cultural identity still quietly remain within the space despite the absence of those who once occupied it. The composition feels both grand and emptied simultaneously; a place where history continues to exist, though no longer fully intact.

Central to the piece is the idea that historical narratives - much like personal memory - are never truly fixed. They are continuously rewritten through perception, emotion, distortion, and time itself. Through fragmentation, Plum Banquet attempts to loosen these rigid structures, allowing classical imagery to exist within a more fluid and psychologically shifting dialogue between permanence and decay, beauty and erosion, memory and reinvention.

Art rooted in memory, feeling, and quiet observation; created for the souls who have always existed slightly outside the edges of belonging. I am endlessly grateful to share these fragments with people across the world, and I hope the work has reached something deep within you. Commissions are open, and I look forward to continuing to create pieces that resonate, linger, and inspire.
